After a Recorder with HD which would provide better quality picture than my Denon 1910 when connected via DVI to my 42PD5200

does such a thing exist ?

Frankly no. You'd be better off keeping the Denon 1910 and using that as your DVD player whilst getting a DVD recorder that suits you needs.

Currently the only HDMI/DVI equipped DVD recorder is the £1300 Pioneer DVDR920. This will give a comparable PQ to your Denon 1910 - but there are better DVD recorders than the 920 so why not pay significantly less for better?

The 'Which DVD Recorder?' link in my signature is a good place to help narrow down the choice of DVD recorders BTW. The market is a minefield.
