Re-decorating

Will re-decorate soon. My wires are taped to the skirting with thick white tape which does a half-decent job of hiding them. However, I want to enbed them into the walls before redecorating. Can you channel wires horizontally, or will you come up against an obstruction, like a batton that holds plasterboard to the back wall surface?

Another thing, is there a light-ish, neutral colour that I can use to paint hte wall which is boring magnolia at the moment, that is also good for reducing reflections from TV (and eventually as possible projector) when the lights are dimmed?

Thanks.

Could you remove your skirts, hide the cable as there is often a gap at the bottom of the wall.... and then re-fix

Dulux Flat Matt is good for not reflecting light here

I'm afraid to remove the skirting cos it is glued on (mdoern house) and will certainly pull loads of plaster off from the surrounding areas.. If possible, I'd rather make some pilot holes and feed the cables through that way. Then I can simply use filler, smooth off, then re-decorate. That low down, even if the patch-job is imperfect, you will not notice.

Very true.... you can just find the uprights with a bradel and cut little holes out there and feed through the rest..... good luck :)

Hi F.M.

just bear in mind that the ring main cables to sockets usually pass virtically behind the skirting up to the sockets. They should be covered with a trunking usually plastic in new houses which your drill will go through like a hot knife through butter so try to find these first if you`re not sure.

cheers Allan

Thanks for the tips. I should be ok cos because the sockets are above the line of planned travel of my hoem theatre wiring.
