    Can I get DV output from this machine into my PC. The PC has firewire card OK, my DV camera works into the PC OK

    In a word no. Your machine, and all other DVD recorders I know of, only have
    DV input.

    Indeed - virtually all DVD recorders with iLink only have input. The only ones with iLink output are the Pioneer range. And that is for outputting to a Camcorder not a PC.

    Some JVC HDD, DVD recorders also have DV OUT.

    I was looking at this feature on the Pioneers, it's not a huge deal but I figured it could be useful if you can connect it to your computer and use iMovie or some other package that thinks a DV camcorder is connected and then record the DV output of the Pioneer.

    Seemed a cheap way to be able to capture to the computer?

    Is that not how it works?
