I tried R1 DVD of X-men (NTSC) today and it played without judder. Just in case I have not understood this judder business, can some one please explain what to look for?

    My setup is as below.

The picture trembles or judders the picture will not be as sharp as it should be .Very obvious on titles of a movie try Panic Room if you've got it that allways used to tremble a little on my old DVD player i hate to think what it will be like on the RD50.I think someone mentioned Pitch Black R1 was ok & one two others.

It arises when the camers pans left/right or up/down, look at the forground. It doesnt move with a fluid motion (jerks/judders). Scrolling credits at the end of a film can display this as well.

Terminator 2 (normal edition) is a good one for judder.
    Chronicals of riddick, Hero.

I think also the Pio 575A works well with the RD50, peaple with this model (and only this model) seem not to notice the judder much, why? dunno.

    Hi
When using a pioneer 575 set to pal it converts ntsc 60 to pal 50 which gets rid of most of the juddering but not all

OK. I now see judder on fast motion across the screen. Can be annoying but not unwatchable unless there is alot of motion, IMO.

Im sorry you can see it. I thought you had it sorted out with the pioneer 575. Try a pc with a program called reclock or powerstrip. It doesnt eliminate it but it does calm it down a fair bit.

Razor i tried reclock & it did'nt make any difference to me , hardly surprising since i was all right in the first place. When i recorded a program using my TV card the playback was smooth but every 5 seconds you lost sound for a second. After i'd removed reclock it was fine again.
Reading the notes reclock is compatable with powerDVD 5 & as i had the judder with powerdvd5 this might be good progam to test reclock with.
It's possible that Windvd6 & powerdvd6 are doing something similar to reclock to remove the judder ?

It doesnt eliminate the judder only reduce it. Nothing I have found eliminates it totally.
I wish I could remove the problem completely. Are you sure you have rid the judder motion 100% or is it occasionally visable?

May be because I have a larger screen it is more noticable?

Razor you are not talking of slight jerks when the camera is panning are you ?
because i can see that on region 2 disks as well try watching the opening of the Lord of the Rings Two Towers R2 where the camera is flying over the mountain i get it on my Limit DVD player as well. I do see very small jerks on Gladiator R1 with panning apart from that it's rock solid.

I think its a mixture of the two. My experiance has been the bigger the screen the more imperfections you notice.

I also view a lot of NTSC based material, at least 2-3 hours a day.

If i was buying a DVD i'll check if it's got a DTS soundtrack but it would'nt bother me at all if it was Region One or Two. I don't see any of the problems my Limit DVD player shows playing region one.

as, you have been looking for a dlp set for ages now, I evan supplied you with details on where to get a good discount on an Optoma set (before xmas) and I never got any thanks.

I dont see what someone could tell you face to face that you couldnt read in these forums. Are you actually ever going to buy a DLP set?
