    Hello

Are all of the Super-bit titles RCE as I would really like some of them but I do not have an RCE compatible player.

    Cheers

As yet none of them are, despite being shown as RCE on some websites.

Not once have I had an RCE world map appear on any of the Superbit discs that I´ve got. (My player will only play RCE with the disc swap trick).

I am of the opinion that not all RCE have the world map at the beginning. I have over 200 R1 discs all recent releases spanning the last year. Am I a freak, in that I have managed to buy non RCE discs or what.

There are very few DVDs that actually have the encoding system. And only Warner Bros and Columbia TriStar use it.

Not aware of any Superbit RCE encoded so far.
Most are dual encoded R1, R3 and occasionally R4 which means RCE is impossible are will only work on one region only disks.

Columbia seem to be loosing interest (they were the main users of RCE) as recent R1 titles have not used it.

Play tend to cover themselves by stating all R1 titles from Columbia and Warner could have RCE (they are the studios who used it) but the vast majority do not.

As already mentioned R1 Superbit titles do not have RCE, and as malcy has stated R1 Superbit titles are coded for different regions.

Air Force One - R1 only

    Johnny Mnemonic - R1 and R3

    Big Hit - R1, R3 and R4
    Bram Stokers Dracula - R1, R3 and R4
    CTHD - R1, R3 and R4
    Desperado - R1, R3 and R4
    Fifth Element - R1, R3 and R4
    Gattaca - R1, R3 and R4
    Vertical Limit - R1, R3 and R4

the next 2 Superbit (deluxe) releases Hollow Man and the Patriot will more than likely be coded for R1, R3 and R4 as well.

It depends upon who has rights worldwide

Air Force One is Disney in Australia
    Jonny Mnemonic is Fox
so these can not be coded R4 by Columbia as they can not sell them there.

Both Hollow Man and The Patriot are Columbia titles worldwide

The R4 coding on R1 Superbit titles has nothing to do with Australia, it is for Mexico, and parts of Central and South America that use NTSC.

    Thanks for clearing this up.
I always thought it was strange that many R1 disks are dual encoded R4 but in NTSC when Australia is like UK in using PAL.
However comment still stands that those R1 only are because Columbia don't hold rights in the other countries.

    Hello

Has anybody else out there got any SuperBit titles??

I was wondering if yours have got anything printed on the spine???

My Fifth element does not and it looks odd having a blank silver spine but the pictures on the superbit website seem to have the name of the film on there!!!

    Does that make sense???

    Cheers

    Chris
