Short of buying an AA component switch (i'm loathed to spend £180 on a switch without investigating the more economical way of doing it.), and ignoring the woeful Scancom AVT-5842 can someone explain to me why the cheapo direct manual switches like this one are a bad idea? I need 4 or 5 inputs to feed my Panasonic 5 series with dvd/ps2/xbox/gamecube - i'm desperate to play ws/prog scan F-Zero!

this shouldn't be to bad provided you use S-video and not composite. some people actually prefer s-video picture to component one. the cables are dearer though and you'll need good ones
