RBG SCART to Panny D4 lead

I will shortly be getting a Panny D4.

I have been following peoples posts about the DR. John Sim boxes, which looks very good.

My question is, can I connect a ON-Digital box using the RGB signals from the SCART to FOUR BNC's.

SCART Panny D4 BNC
Pin 15 ---- RED -------- RED Signal
Pin 13 ---- RED GND ---- RED GND

Pin 11 ---- GREEN ------ GREEN Signal
Pin 9 ---- GREEN GND -- GREEN Gnd

Pin 7 --- BLUE -------- BLUE Signal
Pin 5 --- BLUE GND ---- BLUE Gnd

Pin 20 --- Comp Sync --- Comp Video
Pin 18 --- Comp GND ---- Comp Video GND

All my equipment outputs RGB, and I have got a SCART RGB switching box.
Also I would like to connect a PC on the VGA input.

a) Will the above cable work if the D4 menu is setup correctly to sync on Comp ????

b) Do you need the Comp Video lead, could you use sync on Green ???

Best Regards,

Bluebear.

codlord,

Thanks for your reply.

It does look like it may work if the Sync signals are within spec on all my RGB devices, looking at Joe Fernand & Jon Weaver
mails.

I know about the draw backs of not having access to Composite video or S-Video inputs if I set the D4 to "sync on Composite".

I just want to get the D4 up-and-running to ensure its OK and does not have any problems.

a) Does anyone see any problems with the lead not working ??

b) Has anyone tried one of these leads on a Panny D4 type display ??

Best Regards,

Bluebear.

Sorry I got the Cable pin out wrong for the SCART to RGB + Sync cable. (Comp Sync pin outs was wrong, should be pins 17/19)

SCART Panny D4 BNC
Pin 15 ---- RED -------- RED Signal
Pin 13 ---- RED GND ---- RED GND

Pin 11 ---- GREEN ------ GREEN Signal
Pin 9 ---- GREEN GND -- GREEN Gnd

Pin 7 --- BLUE -------- BLUE Signal
Pin 5 --- BLUE GND ---- BLUE Gnd

Pin 19 --- Comp Sync --- Comp Video
Pin 17 --- Comp GND ---- Comp Video GND

I can also confirm that you do need the Comp Video lead for the Sync, and that "Sync on Green" does NOT work!

All you have to do on the D4 is to set the "Signal" setting to "Sync on Video" and the above cable works fine.

WARNING: Don't use cheap £7.00 SCART leads, you can SEE difference when using a £30+ cable.
The cheap SCART leads are not screened correctly for high speed Video signals and don't use 75R coaxial leads for each RGB signal.
