Does look good :smashin: But isnt the xbox versions being re written using the Splinter cell engine ? instead of the standard unreal 2003 engine?

Not really, Raven Shield and Splinter Cell both use the Unreal engine, what you may be thinking of is that some of the lighting effects from Splinter Cell are being added to the Xbox version of Raven Shield and are not present in the pc version.

The game is being changed quite a bit - 1 team of 4 on xbox, instead of 2 teams plus a pair of snipers on pc, and they are adding grenade launchers. I guess this is neccessary when going from pc -> console. On PC this game is currently hampered by some nasty bugs. Shame as it has the potential to be brilliant.

Hope they dont dumb down the game too much for xbox. They could have used the voice control feature of Xbox live headsets, ie instead of hitting a key to tell your teams to hold or go in SP campaign, you could actually just say the words. I think this is used in SOCOM for PS2 - its a damn good idea.

P.S. those vids are from the PC version, go here to check out Xbox screenshots.

That feature is available in the xbox version using the headset. Raven shield website for xbox states that feature.

State of the Art: Intelligent AI, awesome graphics, and new features like the real-time voice-activated order system will not be beaten by the competition and make it the best game of 2003.

Thats a paragraph from here http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/rainbowsix3/

    Hey folks,

Well I just had a quick go on Socom on the PS2 at a mates and the voice recognition is the most awesome thing I've ever seen/heard!

The game is so-so, but the voice commands take it to a whole new level. Going back to Raven Shield on my PC and having to hold down multiple keys on my keyboard to issue commands just seems so backwards now!

The recognition software is absolutely amazing. It requires no vocal training at all, and I issued loads of commands in the mission, and it failed to understand about 2 or 3. There also seem to be commands that aren’t normally accessible via menus (I think). e.g. Once I finished my last objective, the Intel people (who along with your teammates can only be heard through the earpiece, brilliant touch) told me to finish up, so I said half jokingly "Team head to LZ" (Zeee in a yank accent of course) and off they went! To get them to change ROE (in Raven Shield terms) you say "Fire at will" (and you hear a response of "weapons free" in your earpiece) and so on.

I know that SOCOM has been out quite awhile in the US so here’s hoping that UBI have played it a lot and get Raven Shield on Xbox right. But their current support of the PC version is leaving a lot to be desired (introducing huge bugs in each patch and not really fixing anything with each release). I definitely won’t be getting the Athena Sword mission pack for the PC version due to the poor support from ubi. They seem to be taking the EA approach these days and putting sales before product quality and support and it’s just not on! But if they get RvS Xbox right then all will be forgiven!!! :)

the voice control in Socom really is excellent. Liverpool, did you not try it when you played it then.??

As for Raven Shield, I've been a Ghost Recon'er since day one and still play regularly (headsets et al) online. Have to say most of the guys I play with were a little disappointed at RS when it came out. May have been the sudden from monster outside arenas to small inside environments.
I am more excited about the prospect of Gost Recon 2 this year..now that will be drool stuff.;)

Personally I think Raven Shield may suit Xbox better than PC, I'll get it anyway..and Ghost Recon Island Thunder and S.W.A.T..haha, we're such suckers.:)

done believe SWAT is Live for play just downloadable content.

However here is IGNs preview text.;)

In Vivendi's upcoming FPS, the shouting is almost as important as the shooting. You scream at suspects to drop their weapons, drop to their knees and give up before you and the rest of your SWAT squad storm the room and take them out with shotguns, submachine guns, and silenced pistols, or simply snipe them from a room away with a high-powered rifle. Utilizing the Xbox Live headset, you bark orders to enemies and tactical commands to your troops. It's the interaction with the enemies that's really exciting as after you tell them put their hands up, you'll see a compliance meter pop up on screen. When the meter is red, you can order your teammates to run up and cuff the bad guy. But the longer you wait (you might start taking fire from another direction) , you can almost feel the tension in the room rise as the enemy starts to get nervous and you'll see the compliance meter start turning blue. When the meter hits the blue stage, watch out. The criminal might dive on the floor to grab a gun, or toss a gas grenade they had hidden your direction. And speaking of gas, if you don't put your gas mask on when the fumes hit the air, not only will your character start coughing, your aim will be off, and if there's too much muzzle flash, you might just blow you and your entire team up in one massive explosion. Put all of these elements together and it's a deadly stare-down between good and evil that keeps the action intense from enemy-to-enemy and room-to-bullet-riddled-room.

You play through the 21 single-player missions as Mathias Kincaid, a former Delta Force bad ass who has taken control as the SWAT element leader. The storyline of the game focuses on you and two of your SWAT teammates, a sniper and a technical special, as you utilize their skills, the environment, and the latest weaponry and equipment to stop terrorists, eliminate threats, and uphold the laws and security of the United States. In one mission you have to prevent a number of suicide bombers from reaching their target. The sniper blasts the bombers in the head, then the technical expert runs down to diffuse the bombs as you bark commands and provide cover.

Beyond the single-player experience, you'll also be able to play 10 exclusive co-op levels with a friend, or if you'd rather shoot your buddy than work with him, there will also be a Deathmatch option included as well. Snipers looking to bring their shooting skills online will even be able to download an exclusive Deathmatch level through Xbox Live, then take on gamers across the country to see once and for all who fires the deadliest shot.

    END

so it actually looks like there is a Sniper online mode..;)

Some new Xbox screenshots up at GameSpy and at the Official Site .

Plus these new xbox features are listed at UBI:

Its already looking pretty different to the PC version as the rainbows seem to be running around with no body armour whatsoever, just some lovely fetching hats to keep them protected from enemy fire! :)

Every screenshot seems to show your weapon as an M4 or M203. Hope they havent removed all the cool weapons from the PC version. Gotta have my MP5-SD5 with mini scope!

They have also dropped the Raven Shield part of the name so now it's just "Rainbow Six 3", does that mean we have to change the name of this thread? ;)

awesome news.:) Playing Soul Calibur II in 720p is jaw-dropping.. this will be a stunner.

With regard to the name, I would guess they are changing it to stop people calling it a PC port and passing it up.

I have a feeling we'll be stocking a few of these babies.;)
