Does anyone know of any PS2, Xbox, GameCube or GBA games that are classed as rare or hard to find?

    Thanks

    Jim

I guess it might be - why do you want rare games though? Games have to be both good and rare to be of interest to collectors, if that's what you're thinking.

agreed, newer games are often rare because they are pants! I think the days of collecting games (apart from limited special editions)is over as they are so mass produced these days. Your best bet for modern games is the dreamcast. Shenmue 2 for example is fairly rare I guess and goes for between £20 & £30 on ebay. This is because it came out right at the end of the DC's life and only a few thousand were ever produced.

As sjallen stated, there has to be another reason for someone wanting to collect something apart from the fact that it is rare. The game must either be regarded as a classic (i.e. Shenmue 2) or must have some other redeeming feature.

Rez (DC) - about £50 for a sealed one.

Samba de Amigo + maracas (DC) - £120+ on eBay

Bubble Bobble feat Rainbow Isalnds (PS1) - £45 for a mint copy

I saw Knight Rider - PS2 on Ebay a while ago and they said it was rare, it went for about £40, yet I went in gamestation the other day and it was in the 2 for £30 section

Saying something is Rare is just an ebay ploy. People do searches for "rare" on ebay and it brings your item to their attention. If they don't know much about it they may bid! Actually RTYPES on the PSX is fairly rare and these can go for around £25 now.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a copy of PS2 Ico now? Can't seem to find it anywhere anymore, and I don't trust eBay atall.

saw a copy of Ico in Gamestation/York a few weeks back, was only about 15 quid I think. I buy and sell loads of stuff over Ebay it's great. If you buy of reputable sellers then I find there's no problem.

Ico is rare but it's not worth very much.

I bought a copy from Gamestation - rubbish condition but it's the only copy of it I've seen in maybe 15 months

I picked up a sealed ICO off ebay - no hassle whatsoever- a couple of months ago for 21 quid.

Awe-inspiring PS2 game. Get it, but dont pay more than 25.

The packaging is cardboard digi-pack style though and wears quite badly.

Also, i notice the price of Soul Calibur 2 on da Cube has gone back up in price, was 19.99 before now back to £35, yet XBox/PS2 versions of the game R @ 19.99, - bit unfair i'd say for GameCube owners - obvious reasons cos Links is xclusive character for Cube but Heiachi of Tekken is also xclusive for PS2 version - its just greedy retailers isnt it?...

BTW: got my copy of SC2 GC for £15, i have also PS2, Xbox versions but Links is fun to use hehe

Link is really lame, Heihachi is mega tough!

Tactics Ogre on GBA is fairly rare in Euro land, but isn't worth a lot.

Ico is still on my 'to buy' list, so I suppose my dodgy memory can't allow me to be certain; but isn't the cardboard packaging only on the 'special edition' release (the one that includes the postcards)?

Mine's the cardboard and postcard release. Didnt know there was a plastic box release. Only ever seen two copies, both cardboard - mine and one in GAME Basingstoke pre-owned bin about three weeks ago.

Another getting rarer/harder to find is Ace Combat: Distant Thunder. Anyone played/got this? Supposed to be a bit tasty.

I didn't think many PS2 games were rare but I'm struggling to get my hands on a copy of Frequency.

ICO is a really rare but rubbish game. My Dad claims it is the best game he has ever played. He wants it more than anything in the world, well minus the best home cinema system in the world and all of Bill Gates's money. He has more than the USA itself!
