Are there any amps out there in the sub £500 price bracket which allow adjustable range compression?

I live in a badly soundproofed flat, and sometimes have to switch my amp (Marantz SR5300) in to "night" mode to keep the neighbours happy. If find this goes too far, compresses the sound quite a lot, making it sound very bland.

Are there any amps at this price that will allow me to compress the range by (say) levels of 1 (being a little bit compressed) to 10 (being very compressed).

    Cheers

    Hi

Most will have the option of three or four settings eg. Yamaha have MIN, STD and MAX. Denon's have OFF, LOW, MID, HIGH.

Are you sure your Marantz doesn't have a further adjustable option?

Pretty sure - I've only seen "Night" mode, and can't see how to modify it at all in the settings.

Thanks anyway. Good to know that most have this when I'm next upgrading, as I would like it.

    Cheers
