Haven't visited here or done much photography of late - I started a new job a few months ago and that seems to be taking up all my time at the moment. I really want to get back out and am looking at taking part in APOY 2014 will give me the kick I need. Am hoping the various themes each month will inspire me to try something different aside from minimalist, monochrome coastal long exposures.

Also heading to Paris in May, so hoping I will find something there to inspire me.

Anyway, here are some minimalist, monochrome long exposures, along with a grab shot from my phone..

Nice set. I love these type of images with the mirror like sea. One day I'll get myself a decent tripod and some ND filters and try this myself ;)

    Cheers.

Haha, I have been telling myself I'll get a decent tripod one day too. Mine is a cheap and cheerful one designed to be used with compacts - it doesn't even have a removable head.

Seriously, don't think you need expensive kit to give this a go (although I know that seems to be the thinking on the forums I visit occasionally).

As for ND filters, yes, they can be expensive, but there are cheaper options as well - welding glass is a few quid (google it) and Hoya, SRB and Lightcraft all do more reasonably priced 10 stops.

And off topic by the sixth post - I'm impressed.
