Random holiday pics for inspiration and information

This photo doesn't quite show it at its finest but had a day in Lisbon recently on a cruise and will definitely be back for a longer stay. Beautiful city.
Going to Lisbon this year, on a cruise, Celtic supporter, so you can guess where I'm going... City looks lovely

Was it one of these offers where you didn't get the accommodation allocated until you arrived!

There must be a story behind this random holiday pic?

Me?
No. It's on air bnb. Was brilliant. No Wi-Fi, no TV. Just sat by the fire at night having a few beers. During the day was fishing in the adjacent river or went hiking.

Atlantis hotel on the Palm, Dubai. Very nice place

Anyone take the kids to Thailand & if so which islands/resorts?

I’ve not been for 17 years, and never with the family in tow. So interested in nice quiet resorts that aren’t aimed at tourists on the lash. 17 years ago I did Bangkok & Lamai Beach Koh Samui, but suspect Lamai is a bit trashy now.

Quiet fancy direct flights too, without the stop over in Bangkok

Brilliant but grubby looking, was it dry and mould free
Yes. 2nd night it chucked it down but was bone dry. Little log burner as well which heated the place up really quick and was a little too hot

Few from a recent trip to Iceland. Fantastic place. Fantastically expensive too:blush::D

Just a few days away over Easter. Hopefully doesn’t require and explanation as to where it was.

We took our boys to Khao Lak in November last year. Boys are 5 and 12 and had a great time. The area is family friendly, plenty of bars and restaurants but without the noise and bustle of Phuket. We flew into Phuket via Dubai and its then around an hours drive to the resort.

Massive part of the town was wiped out in the tsunami and they've rebuilt lots of it but hotels are restricted to 3 stories so no hi-rise buildings. Khao Lak is tourist orientated but I can honestly say that in the 2 weeks we were there we only saw 1 'drunk' person. I think most of the partygoers stay in Phuket. Thoroughly recommend having a look at it. I was worried about taking the family to Thailand (like you I had been about 16 years ago) and I had a worry a lot of the resorts may have turned into little Benidorm (no disrespect to Benidorm!)

Thanks. Will look into that, although I’m looking at April next year, and I think that means the gulf side of Thailand is a little bit drier then. Just realised there’s a Thailand thread too.

This is near Carveiro on the Algarve.
The photos were taken on the seven hanging valleys walk which stretches I think for 14 kilometres.

View attachment 943623Milford Sound. Breathtakingly beautiful. For a sense of scale Mitre Peak is 1100 ft higher than Ben Nevis. we did a road trip before getting married near Mt Taranaki. It was one of those holidays where everything worked out just fine, even leaving Kiakoura a few days before the massive quake in 2016.

We spent Christmas day at milford sound and it's one of the best things we've done in NZ. The cruise was awesome but that drive in and out is incredible scenery that constantly changes. I'd tjoroughth recommend the drive alone for anyone visiting these shores.
