    Hi,

I'm experiencing random audio dropouts with my Arcam DV88 Plus on ALL my DVD's in both DD and DTS. I'm running in progressive mode on a Sony projector and my audio source is a Sony DB-870 surround receiver. The Arcam is placed on top of my VCR.

    Firmware versions are: 2.1.8.34 & LT76.

    Anyone also got this problem?

I have NEVER experienced this on any of my past DVD players!

I know there is a new firmware version out (3.0.0) - anyone know if the new firmware will fix the problem?

Hope you can help me - because it is almost impossible to watch a movie when the sound constantly drops in and out (on average every 10 minutes)!

Give Arcam's friendly and useful technical support a call; phone number is Arcam's number on the front page of their web-site.

Tell them about your problems and see what they say, and get your free upgrade to v3.0.0.

When Arcam supply you with software, also included is a firmware version revision sheet that tells you all the changes made; which are too many to list here.

This software is for DVD players with Zoran Vladis V chipset, i.e. DV88+, DV27+ (like mine), DV89 and DV27A.

v3.0.0 is the final version of v2.54.0 which was a prototype (only used internally in Arcam) that updates the last official version v2.1.8.34. I'd guess that it's numbering is to tie in with the release of the two new players (DV89 and DV27A).

    Highlights include:
    • Less drop outs (I haven't heard one since)
    • Gap between CD tracks removed, and annoying "chirp" too
    • Support for WMA, as well as MP3
    • Improvements to MP3/CDDA handling
    • Support for Kodak Picture CD, as well as JPEG
    • Support for "mixed discs" containing MP3, WMA and JPEG
    • User Interface sped up via rewrite, and new screen saver
    • Fixes for movies, bug fixes, minor changes, etc.

    Hope this helps.
