PLAY have the 4 dvd box set at £31.99 (r2), anyone found it cheaper........come on bargain hunters.
amazon have it for 30.99 and this qualifies for the free postage.
You don't want the UK Region 2. The gory bits are edited out.. Get the Region 1 or possibly Austrailian version.
where can we look to see whats been cut from the r2 version?
The r1@ dvdsoon is about £29.75 delivered. i cant find it cheaper. But like lotr towers it will proberly be 12 quid somwhere when its released, thats if you buy a cake or something!
No, you DO want the R2 cut version.
Just cos something was cut out (no pun intended!) doesn't mean to say it's an inferior version.
I prefer the cut version to be honest.
That 'heart ripping' scene in TOD looks WELL out of place in a comic book adventure like Indiana Jones IMO.
Unless there are other scenes cut from the other films that I don't know about go for the R2
That makes sense.
If you have no sense.
Why, because I prefer a 'cut version'
I prefer PAL to NTSC too. Does that make 'sense' ?
Well according to this moth's DVD Review magazine:
"Soon after we revealed the details of The Adventures of Indiana Jones: The Complete DVD Movie Collection, we were inundated with queries from fans wondering if The Temple of Doom would at last be uncut on disc.
We can now confirm that Temple on UK DVD will be the same censored version that was released in UK cinemas and on UK home video. The scenes during the sacrificial Thuggee ceremony proved to be just as graphic today as they were in 1984 under the British Board of Film Classification's guidelines for PG certification. We are told it is not the BBFC's current policy to give a higher rating to a DVD version of a film that is already out at a lower rating.
The upshot is that 66 seconds will remain cut from Temple when it's released as part of the Indy boxset on 20 October through Paramount Home Entertainment. Scenes chopped involve the sight of the victim's still beating heart in the high priest's hand, the flogging of Short Round, Willie's caged descent into the fiery pit and not forgetting Dr Jones' drinking of blood, his own flogging and his bone-crunching fight with the overseer."
So there you have it - enough to convince me that ordering the R1 version was a good move.
I'am not too bothered about the cuts and the cut version is Spielbergs preffered version.
I'll take it, that those that don't care about the cuts, can't actually play R1 or R4, or are being snooty for less obvious reasons?
I can play any region but not everyone likes 'unnecessary gore' in their films.
Temple of doom is the weakest in the triology and i cant see my self watchin it as many times as raiders and last crusade. I do have a multi region dvd player. If i wanna see the man pulling the heart out in its gory detail i'll just watch the making of docu and see it on there, just like on the old VHS release.
I prefer the second.
I thought the third (Crusade) was the worst of the three.
A bit of a 'caricature' of itself, I thought.....
Here's Indy when he's younger
This is why he hates snakes
This is where he got his hat from
This is where he got his whip from
Here's Indy's father
This is how he got his name 'Indiana'
Here's Indy meeting Hitler
And so on...
Incase people are unsure about the cuts, they are
1. Cuts to a close-up of a heart being ripped from the chest and the subsequent self healing of the chest wound.
2. The deletion of the line 'Leave him alone you bastards' when the Chinese kid is about to be whipped .
3. Deletion of the Chinese Kid burning a guard's stomach with a flaming torch (and hence discovering an ability to heal)
4. The sequence in which a sacrifice victim is being lowered into the fiery pit has been shortened and set to different music.
5. Cut to the first 1s or 2s from the shot of his fall in order to delete the image of his head hitting the side of the cliff.
R2 for me.
Uncut all the way for me - are their any cuts to Raiders - I'm sick of seeing the gutted version on UK TV all the time.
TOD the only one thats ever been cut by the BBFC.
