Raffaella Cara died on Tuesday at the age of 78.

Really only known in the UK as a one-hit-wonder for her 1978 song "Do it, Do it again with Love" a more staid version of the Italian version "A Far l’Amore Comincia Tu" ("You start making love") which encouraged women to call the shots in bed. It's said that Cara taught Italian Women how to enjoy sex.

In Italy she was regarded as
“More applauded than [president] Pertini, more expensive than [football player] Michel Platini, more miraculous than [modern saint] Padre Pio.”

Cara got her start in Italian Costume Dramas but went to Hollywood and appeared in "Von Ryan’s Express", but returned to Italy to host the variety TV show "Canzonissima" where should sing and dance, featuring risqué costumes that would scandalize Italy when she displayed her belly button

She became popular across the Continent and even had her own TV show in Spain ", La Hora de Raffaella" (from which most Youtube videos seem to originate). The Spanish connection also allowed he to develop a following in S. America.

She returned to Italian TV in '83 with the variety TV show "Pronto, Raffaella?" and continued her TV career up until 2019 which also featured a stint on Italy's version of "The Voice".

Overall she released 25 albums and had become a Gay and Feminist Icon. It's also noted that she was instrumental in encouraging Italy to return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 following a 13 year absence. There was talk of her playing a role in next year's Eurovision when it's to be hosted by Italy.

Cara's funeral procession will be on Wednesday where it will pass through the streets of Rome to the Town Hall where it's to lie in an open coffin.

She stared in Von Ryan's Express as a collaborator with the Germans
Frank Sinatra character was gutted when he had to kill her to prevent her spilling the beans the allies had taken over the train and dressed in a German soldier and in front of lots of Italians wo swapped to the allies side got there scorn making the situation far worse.
Thought she looked a lot prettier as a brunet.

R.I.P. Raffaella
