Hello
Can any one from experience recommend which is the best radion graphics card available at the moment preferably compatable with asustek A7A266 SDR/DDR SktA (IT IS THE OLDER MODEL NOT THE NEWER ONE WHICH SOME PEOPLE HAVE HAD COMPATABILITY PROBLEMS WITH)

Go for any model as long as its not the VE or the AIW.

Actually I have seen some superb VE based HTPCs. I believe the benefits of the more expensive cards are small particularly if you are using WinDVD rather than the (bugger to configure properly and no DTS) ATI Player.

    Hi there,

All the radeons are the same for HTPC purposes. The DDR is the fastest for games....and the LE (if you can get hold of one) is the same, once hacked with a new bios and hyper_z enabled (hence it was a cheap option in the states and much saught after).

The VE is an execelent choice if you need dual head capability, and is just as good as any other radeon these days (there were problems with custom T&R etc, but these have been sorted). As such, its the *BEST* option for dual head (the geforce mx2 sucks and the G450 is now a bit long in the tooth).

There are new cards comming out soon, the 7500 and the 8500....the 7500 apears to be a 'tweaked' for speed DDR, while the 8500 seems to have some new features and posibly dual head as well.....however these cards have yet to be released in the states, so i'd expect to wait a few months for them and for them to be at a premium, while some of the current cards (particularly the VE) are going for silly money

Radeon VE is the best way to go esp if your using a projector as you can set it up on a tv or monitor and then switch to the monitor. The picture is superb

The new 7500, 8500, & 8500DV are on the ATI website. Go and have a read about them. I'd like the 8500DV please.
www.ati.com
