Radio Microphone with an AV Receiver

I have a query regarding the use of a radio microphone system with a AV Receiver.

Our village hall, which is used to show films on a regular basis, has just renewed our AV Receiver. We now have an Onkyo TX-NR686. It's working really well for Blu-ray and DVD sound.

We used a Trantec radio microphone successfully with the old Kenwood AV Receiver for many years but it just doesn't seem to work with the Onkyo. It's connected to the Receiver using 2 RCA/Phono plugs but we just get a low volume distorted sound.

I'm aware that the radio microphone is really designed to be used with a PA type amplifier rather than a home cinema one.

Does anyone have any idea why the Onkyo doesn't seem able to process the signal properly? Any suggestions how we might get around this?

Hi. We checked the mic with a PA system and it was working fine. After a bit of research we tried a different channel on the AV Receiver and it worked! Not sure why it didn't work in the other channel but it's OK for the time being. Thanks for responding - much appreciated.
