Radio and the England International cricket

Hey Guys

For various IT Policy reasons I can't stream the cricket commentary here at work so, is there a way I can get the cricket over the radio airways here at work?

Sorry, this might seem a really stupid question but I honestly don't listen to radio so know **** all about stations or even if I should go DAB or old style!

The radio would have to be portable but can be mains plugged if required. It would also have to be small enough to fit in my laptop rucksack.

Thanks in advance!!

5 Live Sports Extra does the cricket I think. It's a DAB station though also available over digital TV and the net.

I've just got a Pure One which is a little bulky but has a good sound and works fine with the aerial down which I didn't expect.

It may be too big for a laptop rucksack.

Maybe Roberts or

one of these might be better:

Ideally run DAB radios off the mains or get a charge pack. DAB tends to get through batteries too quick.

Thanks mate

Now, having seen how dificult it is to switch from analogue TV to freeview, how dificult is it (signal reception etc) to switch to DAB?

I'm currently in offices in a glass and steel building however, I do get a mobile phone signal ok?

Place it near a window, extend the aerial and switch on the radio. It should do an autotune automatically. That takes anything from a few seconds to a minute or two and it will tell you how many stations it has found.

As you are in London I imagine it will find around 50-60 stations.

After that stations are usually listed alphabetically so it will be listed in the 'B's'. 5 Live Sports Extra doesn't broadcast all the time so you might not get it at certain times.

Some of the very small radios sound a little weak which is why I got a Pure One but should be okay for commentary.

I doubt todays game will kick-off as its pi**^&g it down but should be good for tomorrow :D

edit: I like the "Move" with its 40 hours from one charge (well "up to" anyway)

Pure, Roberts and Sony seem to be the main DAB manufacturers. Supermarkets seem to do lots of DAB radios but usually the build quality is too dodgy.

Pure Move has a feature that's on my Pure One where you can scroll the text displayed backward and forward. Useful for checking scores as they are displayed.
