Chris Moyles claimed he was a second hand car dealer to avoid paying £1 million in tax. Now he is landed with a whopping tax bill. He said he was naïve with the scheme and was assured it was legal.

To me anybody would realise its not legal tell the inland revenue you are second hand car dealer when you are not to avoid paying £1 million in tax and too me its greed and worse than somebody who commits benefit fraud. Its fraud by false representation. He should get a custodial sentence as well. I think this case makes sham of the government crack down on tax avoidance scheme's.

Forgetting about any tax avoidance, he should get 25yrs in jail for being an annoying git.

    Just my opinion of course.

Looking at the piece, why the need to pixelate the car reg?

Not surprised, he was always a trumped up bastard on the radio, completely entitlement minded, just like many personalities that want to live in society put not pay towards it, always concerned with getting one over someone else.

Another question is how the nations most famous DJ working for effectively a tax payer funded job, with his face plasted over bill board posters and on TV for years, could get this past HMRC.

Sounds more like tax evasion than avoidance. He lied about his occupation and falsified his tax returns.

Its worse because he is employed at the tax payers expense in the first place. The day he took over the breakfast show was the day I stopped listening.

The "I'm a simple soul and didn't know what I was doing" defence can work.
Perversly, especially for high profile (expensive lawyers) personalities.

    Ain't that right 'Arry :D

Apparently he couldn't even write/sign his name he said in court, a year later he brings out an autobiography.

Fraud is fraud. In this case by a few famous people. In the case of benefit fraud the numbers are much greater and for longer periods of time.

Out of interest, why do you say it makes a sham of the gov crack down when he has been caught?

Typical bigoted parasite, he went on one of those Comic Relief trips and stood there feeling sorry for himself while others got on with doing something.

I'm more concerned that this is being portrayed as 'tax avoidance' when its a clear case of fraud. Slowly migrating towards the idea that all personal income belongs to the state and should be treated as such. Its equivalent to George Orwells thought crime. Simply by obeying the law you are breaking it. Everyone should see that as a case of justice gone awry and freedom disappearing. The state can and will imprison you for no crime whatsoever.

While it appears your chief concern is that you don't him very much LOL maybe you would be better taking your comments into the general forum. Disliking someone plays particularly well in that structure I'm told.

I'm sure that's your attempt at a clever insult of some kind, but I'm damned if I have a clue what it means.

Not imho, apart from its unremarkable short 6-part first season. Parks and Recreation is political satire that's got better and better right up to its current sixth season (have been watching it since it started, at 'US pace')

£75k benefit fraud GMTV presenter walks free - Telegraph

Nearly a quarter of a million quid and a couple of years later she is claiming housing benefit. She owns a property that she doesn't use in Docklands

And she walks free from court.

    Must have a good lawyer!
Seriously, I can't understand why people think benefit fraud is acceptable. I must be totally out of touch because I would feel like a crook. But apparently many people do it and still get a good nights sleep.:thumbsdow
