Radeon question.

I'm speccing out a HCPC, and based on what I've read here, I'm planning to use an ATI Radeon for the graphics.

The requirement is for DVD playback *only*, no TV or capture needed, no gaming, but DVI at 1024 x 768 (to a DLP projector) with the best quality possible.

Is the 9000 Pro the card to go for ? or should I be looking at one of the others ?

Also, are the rebadged Radeons the same as the ATI ones ? (for example Novatech)

Thanks,

Paul.

You'll be fine with rebadged ones for this. You'll save money.

For DVI try the Sapphire 9000 DVI model which is a heatsink rather than fan and therefore quiet.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for that.

then searching on Sapphire 9000, I came across another of your posts :

> Filter Mod basically removes filters at the output stage of the card and increases sharpness and removes video noise.

Does this apply to the DVI output ?

best regards,

Paul.

No it does not apply to the DVI output. DVI is normally the best route to take given the choice. But sometimes it depends on the quality of the mod :)

Does anyone know if the Sapphire Radeon 9000 is a 1.5v or 3.3v card ?

I can't find that info on either the Sapphire or ATI site.

I'm thinking of running it with an ASUS P4B-533(V) with 2.0 G Celeron.

best regards,

Paul.
