I have just installed a new Radeon VE over the weekend
and now when I run the THX optimiser from Monsters Inc
the first test which tests contrast levels shows all 4 white
boxes at the same level - No matter what level I have
    my contrast on my AE100. I am using W98 + Power DVD4.
Is it because I am using an unbranded board which has
    inferior DACs?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Azzo.

The problem is the contrast level of the video card is too high. I am not a HTPC geek and use Theatertek myself. It has its own contrast and brightness controls etc. You probably have to adjust your overlay settings.

OK, I will look at those tonight, thanx.

BTW thanks for the quote last month, but my new PC has taken precedense for the moment.
