I bought my Matrix dvd again knowing that the region 4 version is the best .

The one I purchased was from Brazil and is an NTSC version...

but I've read in reviews that it is the PAL region 4 version which is superior.

Where do I get this from? Australia??

and do different standards exist among other regions as well?

    R4 PAL from Australia - yes (try www.ezydvd.com.au ).

R2 is both PAL and NTSC; R2 covers Japan which is an NTSC territory, as well as Europe, which is PAL.

You can't ever equate region to TV standard. The two things came about for two different reasons and at different times, and the one wasn't considered when defining the other.
