Received my copy this morning and was very disappointed to find the dts track absent especially as this was the reason for buying the R2 version.
I'm pretty sure every article that I read relating to this release stated that a dts would be present. As well as being disappointing it's also very annoying

I too have this on order from cd-wow. I cancelled the R1 in favour of the R2 because of the DTS.

Does it say DTS on the box anywhere? It's not hidden under language options rather than audio options is it?

cd-wow have it listed as DTS, but Play, Amazon and dvdpopcorn only say DD5.1

dvdcompare does have the following as an overall comment:

I'm afraid that the dts is not anywhere on the disc...not in the set-up menu or is it written anywhere on the cover.
There are 3 audio tracks, one DD 5.1 and two 2.0 tracks with one being the commentary. I don't know why but the dts has been left off of this release so for everyone like me who held off buying other versions in order to get the dts...sorry, but it's just not there.

The only DVD to have dts is the Jap Premium edition, which is released on the 5th Nov.

Just checked with DvDcompare for the bets version

They advise that the R2 Scandinavia release has the following

A longer Director's Cut of the Film 104.43 min Pal :smashin: , what's the extra bits in the film
English DTS ES 6.1 Matrix Mix

Can any one confirm this ? ?

I have just rec'd my R1 copy :thumbsdow

Maybe the longer cut contains the "bare boobs" that only seems to be on the R3 version of the disc.

Where will I be able to buy either the Jap Premium version or the R2 Scandinavian version from? Anyone know?

    Thanks,

    Matthew

    Hi,

You can already buy the "Director's Cut" of DOTD 2003, from any half-decent UK shop/Region 2 e-tailer.

I've already seen a copy for sale, at my local Blockbuster rental shop. It has the 105m running time, plus all the extras from the regular release (95m approx), but still doesn't have a DTS soundtrack.

But it seems like the us/uk edition still has some very minor cuts in it.

There's a link in another thread on this forum, which has some screen grabs highlighting the differences.

    http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=215215

Personally, I'm not fussed about no DTS as I only have DD, but I'd like the commentary track and the "extra" little cuts restored. So just trying to work out which version to buy.

I have a pirate copy that has all the nudity included.
I have a RENTAL copy that cuts from car to bus window, without the naked woman at all, no blood splattered windscreen.
When the pirate copies are better than the retails, the movie companies had better be worried!

If you buy a german or dutch R2 you most certainly won't have any cuts, not sure about dTS, seems to be only on R3.

It looks like it's only the region 1 that has this "digital blood" covering the dolly bird's knockers. I watched the UK R2 directors cut earlier and they are out in the open.

Actually, saying that, for those who have watched the R2 Director's Cut version...

In the thread I linked to earlier, it states that some people have found the restored scenes to look a dirty, and, as such, they stand out from the rest of the film and look "added in"

Is this the case with the R2 DC or is the restored footage clean-looking like in the R3 version?

    Thanks,

    Matthew

It all looked pretty seamless to me. Nice clean picture throughout on the region 2.

    Cheers Captain...

Did it have the boobies in or were the masked out with the blood splatters?

    Thanks,

    Matt

The american version apparently has 2 versions available, one is an unrated "family friendly" version removes some of the nudity and another has the nudity but is also unrated, i think the reason for this is Blockbuster rentals, to me it makes no sense but i guess Blockbuster are huge in America and have this moral stance they like to take.

I think i might wait and see what the Japanese DTS edition is like.

Yes the UK region 2 seems to be completely uncensored. I really enjoyed the film on the second viewing but I must agree, apart from a couple of quick gore shots and a little dialogue I didn't notice too much difference to the cinema release. I guess maybe I just forgot stuff though as none of the new scenes really stand out as extraneous.

So Americans think seeing a little girl tear her dads throat out
with her bare teeth is OK, but a womans breasts are not.
No wonder they are out their murdering helpless Iraqs

Don't ya just love Americans and their high moral standards.

I hate to be pedantic, but the little girl is not even related to the guy whose throat she tears out. This is obvious from the preceding scene. Watch it again (if you have already watched it that is).
