Having just read another thread, I got thinking. . . .

Don't know whether this has been covered before, but is there any difference between R1 USA and Canada?

Sometimes. As Canada isn't the same country as the US (I know it's obvious but it's easy to forget) films aren't always distributed by the same companies which can mean the discs that get released have different specs. A recent example would be Ginger Snaps - Artisan released a full screen movie-only disc in the US whilst Canada got a fully loaded anamorphic w/s SE from Columbia Tristar. In most cases the discs are identical. Sometimes they're released on different dates but it's always worth checking the specs with the supplier to make sure you're getting exactly what you want. I've known some Canadian discs only getting 2.0 surround audio compared to an otherwise identical DD5.1 or DTS disc in the US.
