    Hi all.

My brother just ordered a R1 dvd on the web from the US which wont play on his multi region UK dvd player. Then he noticed a message on the box that said it wont work on anything other than a standalone R1 player.

Is there a way around this??? or does he have a coaster? Should the wesbite refund him as they gave no notice that it wouldnt work on a multi region player

    Cheers.

What disc? Is the disc RCE?

What player? Can you change the DVD player Region (manually?)

    player is a jvc xv522

he had the multiregion chip done (dont think it can be remote hacked)

DVD is National Security - which I think does have the new RCE

Is there any way round it?

Try playing a normal region 1 disc first then the RCE one. This works for mine.

I don't have any experience with JVC DVD players.

But if you can somehow change the region that should allow you to playback RCE discs.

It sounds like the DVD player is set to Region 0- so any standard DVD of any regions will play, but a RCE disc requests the DVD players region, if it's any different to the disc it refuses to play.

Most companies will not accept refund, for example Play mention "Please Note: Regional Coding Enhancement (RCE): has been added by Warner and Columbia to certain Region 1 DVD’s. RCE will prevent the DVD from playing on some “Multi-Region” DVD players. If you are in any doubt that your player may not be able to play RCE DVD’s, we recommend that you do not order this title, as we are unable to accept returned RCE DVD’s."

    No harm asking though.

    cheers for the advice,

have found some websites with "tricks" to make it work too. Will give them a bash.

If not he can watch it on my dads dvd player where it does work.
