Almost without exception (there ARE odd ones) the Canadian disc itself is identical to the US equivalent. However many folk prefer to get US titles becase recent Canadian law means that covers are all (?) bilingual English/French.

I was searching on the website of DVDSOON and I noticed that there are 2 versions you can buy 1 with french language and the other with english language.

So if the Canadians are like US for picture and sound then DVDSOON have very good prices

Many of Playusa.coms DVDs seem to be Canadian imports.

Yes and they're more expensive than the same discs from DVD Soon. Great service and prices from DVD Soon - no complaints. Bought several hundred discs from them with no problems.

    Enlighten us then??

I haven`t used them since I discovered Dvdsoon, and the great service they give,
Not to mention no import tax, until recently, mind you my Alias boxset has just arrived, without being stopped, and at £25 all in, packed in a very sturdy box (not a rubbish jiffy) I cant see a point going anywhere else.

    Spoony.

Every time I want a disc I check both sites and DVD Soon has always been the cheaper.

Play used to be competitive, but I haven't bought a DVD off of them in months (years even) now...

Yeah, DVDSoon is pretty much my only stop for R1 DVDs nowadays. I haven't received any multi-lingual cases yet either.

Just purchased Star Trek VI (collectors ed., R1 Canada) for just £10.95 incl.p/p from PlayUSA. Price probably refects current exchange rate.
But watch out - the aspect ratio has been cropped to 16:9 from original 2.35:1. And it completely spoils the picture. Serves me right for not waiting for the review...!

Obviously designed for those people who belong to the "I hate black bars" society.

From what I understand, Star Trek VI was shot on Super 35 and the image has been opened up top & bottom without major cropping at the sides. It appears to be approved by Director Nick Meyer for the latest release and has been released this way before on VHS & DVD, although this new S.E. seems to have centred the image correctly compared to previous releases...which were all a little off centre.

You'll find some discussion of the aspect ratio of "Star Trek 6" on page 6 of this thread:

Star Trek VI: Spec Ed - March 1st (R2)

Just paid around £6 for this movie from DVD Soon.
