Do any HDD DVD recorders play back +R discs apart from Phillips.
Doesn't have to record to +R.

Most DVD players/recorders will playback a properly authored DVD+R. That said use DVD-R if you can as more machines will be able to read that format.

Panasonic DVD recorders won't play DVD+R unless the booktype of the disc has been set to DVD-ROM rather than DVD+R when finalising. This is a bit of a pain if you use DVD+R discs recorded on a PC drive without the ability to write using the DVD-ROM booktype. I eventually returned my Philips DVDR890 after repeated faults and got a Panny HS2 and also now a E55. Unfortunately I was left with a reasonable number of blank DVD+Rs and DVD+RWs which are now useless...
