Quiet optical drive

I have experimented over the years to try and get a quiet DVD drive for my HTPC machine. This has had very little success and just about every drive I have had has been as noisy as any other. I have used AnyDVD, drivespeed .... but with little success.

The other week, I happend to decide that I would update the suposedly quiet drive that was in there as I was having trouble fitting everything in (it is a standard size one was as the new one is shorter). The marketing hype goes on about it being quiet and having this and that technology but so did all the others ;) .

Anyway to cut a long story short, I ended up with an ASUS DVD-E616P2 which is not a DVD writer but I got it for £16.40. This drive allows me to watch DVDs in silence (it is actually the same model as the Pioneer DVD 121 which is far more expensive)
