Anyone know of a quiet DVDRW drive ?
I used to have a DVDROM in my MCE which was very quiet now I have a NEC 3540a DVDRW it is great fro watching original DVD9's but when I watch any DIVX on DVDR or DVDRW etc it is now the loudest part of my system because I have got it running so quiet.

Pioneer 109 is well rated for noise levels
I have one myself which I use for movies - there is also a software ultiity you can get for it that sets it in quiet mode. I never got it working but the noise was non-exisitant so turns out I did not need it....

The Pioneer 109XL, has a Honeycomb chasis and is set as default to spin of the discs slowly so it's quiet when playing dvd's/cd's but it gets louder when copying data from cd's...

    I can recommend the HP640i
Even at fully chat you can't hear it unless ear pressed up against it.

Sounds like you need a piece of software to slow down the read speed of your drive - the slower the speed, the less noise it makes.

If you have nero installed you will most likely have nero drivespeed installed too. Set the read speed for the DVD drive to something like 2x and when you watch a movie, it will barely be audible.
