I'm at work at the moment and a student is having problems with some DVD-Rs that he recorded on a Bush VHS/DVD Recorder combi from Argos.
    (He recorded VHS to DVD-R)

He forgot to finalise them but they play OK on the Bush.

However, they also won't play on any of the PC DVD ROM/Writer here at work even though they are failry new drives.

I would have thought that un-finalised DVD-Rs should play OK on PC Drives.

    Question is...

Before I taks his discs away with me tonight to try them out at home, do they need to be finalised on his Bush Combi before they can play on a DVD-Rom etc?

they will need to be finalised in his Bush recorder - - -- experimented last weekend with my Sharp and that was the case - -they will play in recorder unfinalised but need to be finalised to play anywhere else - including your PC.

Watch someone prove me wrong now - - -

    Thanks TBH1

I always thought that like CD-Rs, DVD-Rs would play in ROM drives even un-finalised, but would explain why the discs won't play in ANY drive.

    Cheers
