hi as title says
the model is liteon ltr-52246s
and free would be nice
Search for your model, read instructions carefully.
I would flash the drive in pure DOS mode (with a bootable MS-DOS floppy)
Or use DVD Region Killer - I prefer to flash the drive, as I defently know it'll never lock out.
i have downloaded dvd genie and its asked me to select a region and seems to work
DVD Genie does not solve the problem of the drive itself locking out. DVD Genie just changes the Windows Region.
If you don't want the drive to lockup (with using DVD Genie or just normal 5 changes, you'll need to flash the drive- or use DVD Region Killer)
is there any reason i cant just keap using dvd genie . as i dont use the pc for films much only in emergencys
as i`m inbetween players moment
Use this util...
To show the no of times left before your drive locks to the previous region. On some models, once it locks out- even if you flash the drive it doesn't reset the region code.
So if you change it to region 9 on the last go... it's useless!! It won't play R1/R2 discs.
I would stick to one region, and don't change it.. until you decide to flash the drive.
I used this or something similar, have played hundreds of DVD's an no props on my Liteon.
I used the winflash one I think. This is a software program that unlocks the drive in windows.
I've just started using AnyDVD which is pretty good as well. It strips CSS stuff on the fly as well so if you're going to use something like DVD2One to make a backup copy of you film you don't need to run it through the likes of DvdDecrypter any more
