Ive ordered a Panasonic S97... and likely to get a Philips 32pf9986 LCD...

However, a kind fellow, Jimsan, explained about all the cables and more importantly a HDTV switcher (4 in DVI and 1 out DVI)...

Heres the question. Panasonic to switcher unit, do i need a "standard HDMI to DVI" lead...? Does sound go thru it?

and what does DVI-I and DVI-D mean...?

and can i get a lead, VGA (PC) to DVI?

    Thanks In Advance!

HDMI as standard carries stereo sound. A few devices are starting to be released with HDMI that can carry full multichannel audio. DVI is video only.

DVI-I is an anlogue & digital signal via the DVI connection
DVI-D is a digital connection via the DVI connection
DVI-A is an anlogue only signal via the DVI connection
I think the above is corect, but somebody else will either correct or confirm it.

DVI-I & DVI-A carry a standard VGA analogue signal so yes you can get a DVI to VGA converter/lead.

Sorry, I will practice my typeing and I'll get it down to 8 minutes by next week

Sorry but I'm off down the pub for a  in a minute so can't be bothered to check the audio inputs and outputs available on your equipment. The most likely solution will be a standard stereo pair of phono cables to take sound to the LCD.
