Quick Q about CAT5 cables

    Is it important that I take the cables out of the outer grey layer. What I mean is if I was to use two lengths of 5m cable and just braid them around each other - would this be OK? (I will use one for Black and the other for Red)

    better to leave them in as the pairs are spiralled round each other normally..

    For best results run a couple of lengths of cable, but use ALL the white conductors for Red, and ALL the coloured conductors for Black.

    This takes advantage of the twisted pairs within the Cat5, you'll get much better noise recustion this way..
