I haven't seen the Panasonic yet but the Pioneer is very good, the media box is very well complemented and the pictures from HD or HDMI standard res from a good DVD player are really good. The Hitachi is a Fujitsu based screen and I have always been a fan of theirs. I would bet that an HD image on the Hitachi would be hard to beat. Panasonic standard res screens have great contrast - this is the only redeeming part of them for me. They confused a lot of my clients by using the term 'high definition' on standard res screens. So I'm not happy with them. Connectivity tends to be an issue with Panasonics - check how many RGB capable scarts you get on all these sets. Do they have just one digital interface (e.g. HDMI & DVI-I) or one of each? Don't compare the contrast from the manufacturers literature, there is no standard for measuring contrast so they can basically make up numbers. You need to go and look for yourself.
They're all 3 excellent screens. The Pioneer is the sexiest, with great HDMI pictures, but SKY doesn't look so great, IMHO. The Hitachi I haven't seen in person yet, but the 7200 is pretty good - the picture quality is not really in the same league for SKY stuff as the other 2, I think. What a surprise - I think the PV500 takes it, purely for its ability to tease CRT-like (and better) images from SKY material. This for me is the most critical real-world test. And the Panny blacks are still the best. But I do like that motorised swivel stand for the Hitachi, though...
I honestly don't know why people keep saying that sky or freeview is impaired on the PIO xde, on mine they are easily as good as my sony 100hz crt and my dvd player
I honestly think it must be down to signal strength from dish and aerial as we say in IT, GIGO
Well, I've only ever seen the Pio set up in JL etc., so that isn't fair, I suppose. However, even in a JL setup, the Panny definitely beats the Pio on SKY. I honestly had assumed that I would have to make a sacrifice in SKY quality from my Philips CRT in moving to a plasma, until I saw the PV500. YMMV.
also the pq will be better on a 37" also
Why will the PQ be better on a 37"?
I prefer the Tiny.
Why don't you call the thread:
"Which one do you own/are you going to buy?"
I have voted obviously for the PV500 but I have not seen the 7200.
I have seen the pioneer next to a Fujistu 40 series 50" and it ooked a bit flat.
