What Mode should i use on the amp when listening to sacd if not pure direct or stereo ?

the auto button always directs me to stereo as far as i can tell.

Should i choose multi-stereo or CS II or Dolby Digital MV or depending on the sacd it might change ?? and when using the multichannel modes the volumes drop constantly is that normal ?

    thanks in advance

I have the marantz 7400 and listen to sacd using the 7.1 channel input using 6 analog connections from dvd player to the 7400 (6.1), but it can depend how your dvd players is reading the sacd, on my denon 2900 I can select 2 channel output which reads the stereo mix or multi channel output which reads the 6.1 mix. If using stereo output you can then try the dolby modes, csII etc to enchance sound.

You should use the 7.1 input button on the remote.

I'm sure this is right, I'll double check at home tonight :).

thanks Barry and Kazzman my dvd player is a marantz dv 6500 i will check the 7,1 button on the amp tonight since the connection between the dvd player and the amp is done with a 6 cable analogue therfore 5.1 i never thought about using the 7.1 button i thought it was for a 7.1 speaker setup should i do the same with the movies btw. And the place to listen to all multichannel sacd dvd-a is AUX-2 right ????

    Hi,

I would use the digital input to listen to movies, use the 7.1 input to listen to sacd and dvd audio discs, if you use the aux2 input you will only get output from your front left and right speakers, I have used this input to listen to normal cd's using my dvd playerr.

are you guys positive becouse i get the oposite result when i use 7.1 i only get stereo wheras when i use aux2 i do get the surround and it says analogue on the panel.

I remember reading something like using the axu2 for the sacd and dvdaudio sonwhere but the outcome of the results might depend on my settings as well i believe.

    ???
