Brother has put a deposit down on a "Philips 42 PF5320" plasma TV, dealer says it is HD ready, but I cant find any info on it at all???

Does anyone know anything about this TV cause he is going to pick it up this evening and wants to make sure it is a good one before splashing the cash!

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

Be careful with the way you interpret HD ready. I am new to plasmas, but the learned folk on these forums :lesson: will tell you that the the Philips you are talking about has a resolution of 480 lines so it will only show an HD signal by scaling it to that resolution (I think that's how I saw it explained). It won't show a true HD picture. Can't comment on the prices.

Forgot to mention, I impulse bought a Philips 42pf9966 which I returned within 3 weeks because I was not at all happy with it. After a lot more research, bought a Panasonic TH42PV500. More money, but it was well, well worthwhile.

That screen is NOT hd ready. For a screen to be hd ready it must be have at least 720 rows of pixels. This one only has 480 meaning at the very best it will be hd compatible.

Try a google on the price. I just tried myself and there are plenty of e-retailers have it in stock for under £1300. Not much under thought, so don't think your bruv is getting a great deal, but he's not being shafted. As long as the picture quality works for him :lesson:

Just went with him to look at it there and he seems happy enough, it will do exactly what he needs it to do!!

He aint really into home cinema stuff or anything so he is happy with the picture quality and the price so good luck to him.

    Thanks for all your replies.
