I am also interested in the 23M1 as an upgrade to my existing HR2. I agree the sony website does not state if this set has component inputs, although unbeatables description says it does. I would also be interested to know anyones opinion on the picture quality on this set. My existing HR2 was great during daylight but at night with the lights off, blacks were truly grey. I hope the next generation of LCD sets have got better in this respect!

I have the Sony KLV-L23M1 and can confirm that it does have component inputs on AV3 on the rear. I have had this set about 3 weeks now and I can highly recommend it. The picture quality is very good coupled with decent connections and also sound quality is very good for a set of this size. Build quality is top rate as is the performance, go get one, you will not be disappointed.

Unfortunately there is no information to say that component is progressive in the user guide. The set is also HD ready so future proof as and when available, I can't praise this set enough and I would consider myself to be very picky when it comes to these things. Hope this helps you decide if this is the set for you.

    denian,

    Again, thanks.

I take it that you are not using a progressive DVD player?

Sorry to add yet another connections question to this thread but may I ask, is there a computer input on these sets?

    Thanks

A label does not make it future proof. Does it have HDMI or DVI that is HDCP compliant?

    Jimg,

I know that this does NOT have either DVI or HDMI, so it will be no good for SKY HiDef. This does not actually bother me as the set is for the bedroom so will never be connected directly to a sky box. What I am more conerned about is the progressive scan as I have a progressive scan DVD player and the improvement in quality is worthwhile.

    Ian.
