    Hi,

I have just bought my first Blu-ray Player, the ONN DS-BD52 from ASDA. I could not say no to the 40 Pound offer, but to be honest, I am not sure it was a good choice.

Since it got an Ethernet Port, I asked the guy at ASDA if that means I can stream through the network, he said yes, thats possible. When I connected it, the internet connection was straight found, but nothing happens at all. I now suppose it's only for BD Live and nothing else.

I tried to find information about the player, but the www is very quiet about it. Does anyone got information about this player? Is there anything like streaming function available? Anything I can load on the system to make it work maybe?

I am not sure, if I should give this player back and maybe wait for another offer one day...

I look forward to any feedback. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Luka

I don't have it with me right now, but I remeber that it did not say a lot, just about how to set-up the Network Connection. I don't think it said anything about what this connection is for and what you can do with it.

Thanks for letting us know, but I have got one already.

I am just not sure what to think about this player. As mentioned above, I was looking for a Player I can stream with aswell, but I am still not sure that this Player offers this.

Does anyone know, who produces this player? Its often that a No-Name Player is produced by one of the big names, maybe this information would help....

Just any information would be useful !

Sorry for hijacking your thread Luka, but I also have a question about this player.

When playing AVI files via the USB it plays them fine, but there is no audio.

After checking, the audio in the AVI files are MPEG 4(MP3). I then tried an MKV file which had (AC3) audio and that played fine with audio?

Does this player not support MPEG 4?

Does anyone know how to convert the audio tracks in the AVI files to AC3?

Any help would be much appreciated!

No Problem Gumpy Joe, I am glad if I get some responses where I can learn a bit more about this player. I was not even aware, that it would play anything from the USB. I was under the impression that USB is needed for BD-Live but just tested it out myself. Picture yes, but no sound :(

According to the Manual, it does support MPEG 4...

Strange... It doesn't even see DivX files either. Plays MKV files fine though.

I found out why. It doesn't support MP3 audio. I changed the audio in the AVI file to PCM and now it works fine.

Looks like you are right. I have just tried to play a mp3 File from the USB Stick, but it did not even see it. Strange, because in the Manual it looks on one of the pictures that you have a folder called Music. Wonder what format your songs must be than to be identified as Music...

How easy was it to change the Audio inside the avi?

Another question, I just read about DNLA. Did anyone get this to work ? I am afraid it is not DNLA enabled as well.

    Does anyone know?

I used a program called AVS Video Converter 7. Very easy to do.

I just find it strange that they couldn't be bothered to enable this player to recognise the MP3 format. Probably the most widely used audio format in the world.

Just used the suggested tool to convert the mp3 to PCM and it worked for me as well. Mmh, this is rather dissapointing, that it can not play mp3. Everybody uses this format, don't think I want to keep decoding all my files. Was also hoping that I can play my mp3 Music through the Player, but that will obviously not work :(

It would change everything, if it would now at least support DLNA, but I do doubt it. This Player might have to go back, if I don't get some positive news soon ... :(
