    hi everyone, I'm buying a mini DV camcorder this week and I was wondering if you can write over tapes by just rewinding the tape back ??

    Yes you can, but if its an important recording put it on one side to keep as your master.

    And with tapes only costing about £1.50, why 'overwrite' at all?
    Tape is best storage method for originals I reckon.
