Having recently upgraded my amp to a Dennon x3500h , i am now ready for my speaker upgrade.
i currently have Boston acoustics sound-ware xs small satellite speakers which did the job in a smallish room.
Now my home cinema setup in much larger room 6m x 4m i am looking at either the Q accoustics 7000i or the Monitor Audio bronze 5 package. simple question which would match my amp and room setup?
any thoughts or views much appreciated .Am trying to get a listen to both speaker systems at my local R.S shop ,just wanting to hear comments for owners of similar setups.

You are comparing two totally different products. 7000i is small satellite system best suited to small rooms which you don`t have and B5 package is full sized tower system, although very compact sized. To make it fair you should be comparing MA B5s to these (example):

Q Acoustics 3050/3010/3090c (old model, discount prices)
Q Acoustics 3050i / 3010i / 3090Ci
Dali Zensor 5 / Zensor Vokal / Zensor 1 (old model, discount prices)

For a medium sized room any of the mentioned tower systems would be fine if you can place them ideally further from walls and like in the link below. That also means you don`t have tv in corner or anything similar craziness.
5.1 Surround Speakers Setup | Dolby Laboratories

I recommend that you call and book demo time and ask ~3 different models to be compared with X3500H receiver, so it will be more similar to home situation! This will give you idea of different type of sounds. Pick the one you like the most.

Don`t buy the subwoofer that comes with the package! You can choose it freely from dedicated manufacturers and there is much better options than those subs that comes with the three brands!

I would say if you watch lot of blockbuster type movies, put extra care which subwoofer you choose. There is lot options depending of your budget and needs. You don´t have small room so you shouldn´t look the smallest sub either! Will link couple options low budget in mind.

If you want to buy all from RS, then pick SVS (PB1000 is more movie oriented with extra rumble):
SVS Sb1000 Black Ash
SVS Pb1000 Black Ash

BK Electronics has been most popular option here for low budget for the last 10years:
Platinum P12300-SB

Platinum P12300-SB-FF
Platinum P12300-SB

Monolith-FF
Monolith-DF

thanks for your input , i sort of knew the 7000i's might be a little under powered for my new room sized but reading a lot of reviews about them they seem to be capable of a bigger sounds than their size suggests. unfortunately my local R.S shop's demo room is currently out of action guess i will be reading more reviews on the other systems you mentioned

QA7000i won´t defy physics with small "plastic" cabinets and dual 3" drivers. There is time and place for those, but you have a good medium sized room where most people would look some standmount/floorstanding speakers which will outperform the tiny system easily. You didn´t comment anything on about speaker placement. Just to be sure, do you have tv on about midpoint of one those long walls and can you place speakers quite freely there (pushed out from boundaries)?

There is cheaper systems to look for if money is the problem. You were looking 700£ and 1400£ system so i can imagine you are second guessing the more expensive one. You have lot of options, but the biggest problem will be that you can´t go listen which would be very important! Another hifi shop or trip to another city is highly recommended!

If you are looking for a compact speaker upgrade, you could look at a pair of Apex 10 for the fronts and Apex 40 for the centre duty as they are extremely good, they will produce a little more sonic ability compared to the Bronze 5 speakers, but you will be lacking the underlined grunt of a floorstanding speaker for lower frequencies.

Adding a subwoofer with a high level input will allow you to bring back the missing area's for stereo playback whilst still using the LFE for movies and as a combination will be better than that of the Bronze system at the front end. I still feel the Bronze FX speakers would have a place as they are discrete for rear speakers, but are of a tonal miss-match which your X3500H should resolve.

What you usually find with a more compact speaker package is that the price for convenience always cost more than that of a full size 5.1 speaker setup like the Bronze 5.1 Speaker package

many thanks for your input guys. my t.v is wall mounted midway point on one of the shorter walls. my speakers would be placed either side of t.v. appprox 1.80m apart with my listening position being approx 3.8m for front speakers and 1.40 m from rear fx speakers so i guess the Q accoustics 7000i speakers would not have enough grunt to fill space.

You are sitting quite far from main three speakers so the small satellites would be poor choice. And just generally pointless in larger room if one doesn`t have any restrictions, cause you will pay extra for the looks/design/size also. You don`t need to go floorstanding route necessary. There is so many to choose from and you didn`t mention max. budget and is your usage mostly movies/tv or mixed with music. Very sad to hear you can`t go listen them though. Most important thing missed. Consider trip to another city if possible, that is if there isn`t other hifi stores at N. Ireland.

MA B2 system is another good option for lowish budget 1136£ or 687£ without subwoofer and choosing one from BK or SVS you can make your system better, that is actually mentioned in the Bronze review i will link to you below! Both prices including 60cm speaker stands for main speakers.

Thanks again for your input/suggestions not many av retailers over here in Northern Ireland unfortunately. i would say it would be about 60% music 40% movies as regards usage of system
with max budget being about £1500.Was looking at floorstanders as i would have to place one of bookshelf speakers on top of a glass av unit, the other speaker on a stand and was worried about it affecting sound quality of speaker placing it directly on top of glass unit , would this affect sound quality any thoughts ?.

If your looking at floorstands and your going to be listening 60/40 split in favour of music, the the Bronze 5 package would be best suited for that side regarding what everyone has mentioned above in this thread

They're not to heavy with the bass, quite detailed for the money and are also quite a small footprint for floorstanding speakers :)

You mean placing the center channel on top of glass av unit? Lot of people does that and as long as you push the speaker slightly over from the front edge of cabinet or in same line with something like these under the speakers decoupling them from the glass, you should be fine.

Which colour speakers are you looking for or does it matter? There could be some special deals available.

if i went for bookshelf speakers i.e. bronze 2's one of them would have to sit on top of a glass av unit , would the fisual isolation pads you mention have same effect ?. the centre i would be mounting central beneath t.v.

Why not have both sitting on top of stands? You mentioned your tv is about midpoint of 4meter wall, so you should have space each side for speaker stands? What am i missing? Picture of your tv wall would be good if you have something special going on there.

unfortunately i cant have both on stands as i have my a.v. rack is on one side of my t.v. anyway i have made some stands myself to suit my layout , and have chosen the monitor audio bronze 2 package. looking forward to delivery . thanks again for all your help and input
