    Hello, I am looking for an amp which provides me with an AUX input for my Squeezebox, but also provides;

    • TrueHD
    • HDMI
    • No sound brightness
    • Very good sound production for music and films
    • Works with 5.1 and 7.1 set-up
    • Upscales video and audio??
    • Can label inputs
    • Offers all manner of Dolby options
    • Works well at high volumes with no distortion
All for up to around £350, to be used with Tannoy SFX 5.1 speakers (don't mind if second hand, would prefer black though).

I am also looking for a good, cheap Blueray player that provides upscaling for DVDs (like the Panasonic DMP-BD35EB-K).

Excellent, thank you very much for the suggestion. Would you say that this is a fine example of an amp for reproducing sound in songs and films, without the brightness?

763 doesn't upscale, but unless you've got old equipment that doesn't already output 1080p why would you need it?

It would be nice to plug in my PS2 and have the picture enhanced, same for DVD playback... I've just purchased a Panasonic DMP-BD35EB-K Profile 2 Blu-ray Disc Player with BD Live.

What do you think of the Denon AVR-2309 (Denon AVR-2309 Home Cinema Receiver)

Also, what cables am I going to need? I want good quality speaker cable that I can lay under the carpet or can be concealed easily around the edge of the room somehow... I also need to know what HDMI cables to purchase, how the Blueray player will plug into the amp and how everything else will plug into it also. What will I need to consider when connecting my Squeezebox Duet?

I am going to be starting off with a widescreen CRT, so need to know how that will connect to begin with. Then will need to know what is required for a LCD and what specifically I should buy (would really appreciate links to the cheapest deal of the product recommended).

    Thank you!

Yes I know, but I am fed up now and want something that is going to last. I have spent a week and a half asking similar questions about different products and I just want it all to end.

What do you think? It has a lush review: Denon AVR-2309 | Home Cinema Choice

Yes, it does seem to have a good review. At this price point id say its unlikely that its gonna be rubbish. Dennon amps seem to be pretty well regarded as far as i know. At the end of the day it should be your ears that make the deision so get yourself an audition mate!

I just can't be bothered any more! If I get much more positive feedback I am going to buy it... Thanks for the heads up.

Sony STR da2400ES another contender which should sound decent with music as well as film available for under £380.

Any particular reason you want to keep your ps2 and yet you spent £250 on a BD player?
I binned my ps2 a long time ago for a ps3, both for games and BD films. Best bit of kit I've bought in ages.

By the way, once you've decided on an amp, you'll be going through it all again with tv's. Forget about LCD's, get a proper tv!!

Is it worth having the Denon 2309Ci imported? Would there be any problems with that? I could have it for $650.00 + $20.99 shipping (don't know what additional tax would be). Works out at £464.72!

By the way, what do you consider to be a proper TV? A plasma?

the tax will be loads, you would be better off putting the money towards a better amp than paying £££ in taxes! and I would think he was referring to a plasma.

    No, certainly not...forget it.
For a start you would have warranty issues.
Secondly, the unit is designed for the american markets(presuming)cause you mention Dollars..;)
Also are you prepared to buy a voltage convertor? so you can switch it on without blowing it up...:D
