Can you please tell me if it the audio out rca sockets on the FQ75 are permanently live, or whether they are only activated when the TV speakers are turned off in the menus (and if it is the latter, I take it this setting does not survive power off)

I think that the headphone outlet and the RCA sockets are linked and they both operate independently from the TV's speakers.

When I used the RCA sockets, I used to turn the TV volume down and use the receiver's volume control. This avoids the mute symbol appearing on the screen. You also need to adjust the headphone volume (ie make sure that it is on) on the sound adjustment menu as this also controls the RCA output. Once adjusted it does not need altering again, even after power off.

I didn't know that the TV speakers could be switched off via the menu.
