    Hi all,
I just about to up grade my DTS/DD amp to a new DTS ES/DD EX one. I've heard a lot of good reports about the Denon and read lots of threads but I just have a few questions.

How does the 7 channels of amp actually work ie does the amp take the extra Centre Rear channel from the ES or EX sound track and split them between two new rear speackers?

If so then is this any different from the Ultra THX which is doing this and calling it 7.1.

Any help would be most welcome!

    Cheers

    Hi

The amp just sends the EX/ES signal to BOTH surround back channels, its a mono signal not stereo.

It does the same as the THX Surround EX amps but as the 3802 is not THX approved they can´t use the logo/name etc. There are no 7.1 formats as such, its really Dolby 5.1EX, DTS ES 6.1 Matrix, DTS ES 6.1 Discrete (a true 6.1 format) or THX Surround EX (effectively the same as Dolby 5.1EX).

    cheers:)
