    Hi
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.
I will soon have available a Maxtor ATA100 80GB HD that is being replaced in my PC with something faster and larger.

Obviously it has an OS and data on it and is formatted to work in the pc.

If I put it into my Sky+ box how do I format it ready for use with the OS in the digibox?

Nice and simple answers please in a step by step manner.

    Many thanks :smashin:

    If I'm reading your post correctly,thats a 40Gb drive you have......if so,the drive in the Sky+ box is also a 40Gb drive,so you won't get any benefits.
You can fit up to 120Gb drives, and a search here,or on digitalspy will give you a lot of useful tips on which drives are known to work, and how to fit them.

    sorry :suicide:

I have made the change and should read 80gb.

I have read the article from Hummer but that deals with brand new drives.
I was concerned about how to format an old previously used drive.

I wonder if a full system reset in the services menu in Sky+ would do it.

What if the drive is seen as full because of the data already on it or the type of formatting from windows?

Sorry...don't know the answer re a previously used drive, but I'm someone else here or on digitalspy would have the answer for you.

Just been looking on the digitalspy forum....seems you will need to do a low level format on your used drive prior to using it in the Sky+ box...hope that helps.
