    Hello Everyone!!

Apologies in advance for this question, but I am pretty much a novice when it comes to Plasma/LCD Screens! Our less than 2 year old Sony 36" CRT TV just blew up and now I am trying to get my very ugly (and stingy!) sister to replace it with a Plasma/LCD Screen. I will read as many forums as I can to determine which to get - Plasma or LCD and what size.

    My Question is (don't laugh!):

ARE ALL SCREENS OUT THERE ONLY AVAILABLE IN A 16:9 FORMAT OR CAN YOU GET WIDER?

Maybe it's just me, but to me somehow, the screens, just to not seem 'wide enough' or am I being a ********? If I buy a screen, it will be a good one and not a cheapie (hey, she's paying for it!) and it would be a shame to spend anything from £2 - £4k for a screen and see even bigger horrible black bars than one does on a TV ( I really HATE the things) but I like to watch things especially movies in their proper aspect. That's my stupid question folks!

    Thanks to all!
    Suave!

If you got a display that is wider than 16:9 you would loose data on all video that is 16:9 (Which most is these days) unless you created black bars at the side instead.
