    Hi

I have my 360 playing windows media center content properly - but only using the default player and default file types (wmv etc). How do I go about playing back other file types i.e .ts files - can I install other players on Media Center? I've got a load of HD trailers to watch!

Also does anyone have any tips for useful software to install?

    Cheers

    Mike

    Go and get transcode 360 - http://www.runtime360.com/

Install that onto your MCE PC and you can then play DivX etc on the 360, what happens is that the PC does all the decoding and then streams the video to the 360 as a WMV (I think its a WMV)

Completly wrong, Transcode 360 works for xvid, divx and others not for .TS (MPEG2 Transport Stream)

    Stussy,

You should install Nero or HDTVPump in your Media Center PC, that way Xbox 360 will be able to play .ts files, and if they don't show up in media center then rename them to .mpg and they will show up.

Yip - I'm with Mike... Google "HDTVPUMP" and that will solve your woe..

Works for me every time - although i just suffered a HDD failure and lost ALL of my HD content.. poor me.

That's brilliant - thanks for the input. The missus is out tonight, so I can play around getting this running without her complaining!

BLOODY HELL! Sorry for caps, but I've just watched about 15 HD trailers, and my jaw has hit the floor. THIS is why I bought an HDTV! Hurry up NTL!

Just one more question - what's the recommended way to join lots of .ts files into one big file? I've seen lots of products on the web - anyone used them successfully?

    Cheers

    Mike

I join my .ts files by simple using the copy command line just like this

    copy *.ts /b FullMovie.mpg

The /b parameter is the key here, it says that it must copy in binary.
