Question about the connection of my speakers to my receiver

Hi, I currently have my Definitive Pro Cinema 60 speakers connected with speaker wire running from the speaker to the sub and then from the sub to the receiver and I was wondering if I connected my speakers directly to the receiver would the audio sound better? The audio comes from a blu-ray player connected through HDMI and my receiver can decode all the HD sound formats.
