Why does my sub (PS-1000) have a low level input and high level output?

What's the high level output for?

I'm guessing that maybe you could take your signal straight from your source, wack it in the low level input and then take a signal from the high level output to the amp for the speakers - thus the sub sorts out the bass management.

This correct or is it for something completely different?

Not everyone uses their sub for LFE duties in an AV setup. Many people use a sub to fill in a little bottom end for music and the preferred method of connection to a stereo amp is via the speaker sockets on the amp so that the sub receives a full range signal and filters out anything above the sub's crossover.

    So I'm right then? :)

    I see now.

I use my sub for music but I think the Denon receiver manages the sub (and the connection is digital too).

    Cheers
