    Hi guys

Am I right in thinking that a RGB scart cable has 3 colour pins and 2 pins for vertical and horizontal timing?.

    Thx guys

    no

it has the rgb (and earth signals). 6 in total. The sync signals can be burried on one of the RGB typically the g or on the composite connection. It all depends on the kit you have. so 6 / 8 potential connections depending. Use 8 if you are making up a lead. [this cover most vairiants]

Personally I prefer fully wired SCARTS if you HAVE to use them. It removes all these problems and any quality differences are so small anyway and are swamped by such a poor connector.
