I was thinking of pushing my budget to get the following Cantons

Fronts : CD50 or CD100 (not sure whether I want to wall or floor mount)
    Centre : CD50
    Rears : CD50
    Sub : AS22

However the price of the CD1 package is so attractive I'm wondering whether I should go

    a) Just CD1
    b) CD1 but with CD50s for fronts
    c) CD1 but with CD50s for fronts and centre

How does the CD50 compare with the CD1 centre - worth replacing?
Would replacing the fronts with CD50s be a big improvement?
How does the CD1 sub compare with the AS22?

    I'd appreciate any views?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

The price of the CD1 was so attractive that I bought CD1+CD50+a pair of CD100. Financially I couldn't justify spending £200 or so on the sub and £188 on enough CD10 surrounds + a centre.

At the moment I only have the CD1 sub, the CD50 centre and the CD100 fronts - I will replace the rear speakers when I have time to get the drill and polyfilla out. The current set up sounds very good to me. Auto set up by my amp they sound very smooth. I've owned cheaper sub/sats and floor standers (no sub) and they sound noticeably better than either.

If I were you I would either go for the CD1 set and upgrade (if you want to) or possibly the newer replacement which is supposed to have a better sub to begin with.

    i have the CD1 and 2 x CD50 as front LR. 4 x CD10 LS-RS-LR-RR and the CD1 as center (CD20 i think it's called)

For movies it's superb, but I opted for the CD50's to improve the stereo peformance and have to say I think my receiver doesn't do them justice. The sound is disapointing with music both with the sub and worse without.

I have since bought a year old pair of AE Evo 3 from a friend who was upgrading and the Evo 3s to my ears just sing. The CD50s with sub gets no where near.

To my ears my Kenwood 9060 6.1 loves the Cantons for movies, but not music.

And yes I've let the Cantons run for ages to get them 'run in'.

I can't believe it's the Cantons as too many people love their sound for music.
